About Us

The Buddhist Education for Victorian Schools program is auspiced by the Buddhist Council of Victoria Inc (BCV Inc) and has the support of the Religions for Peace (RfR) Australia. The Education Committee of the BCV Inc is composed of representatives from different Buddhist traditions and cultures, with expertise in education and project planning. Communities involved in the steering committee include members of the Vietnamese, Chinese, Laotian, Cambodian, Sri Lankan and Anglo Australian ethnic groups from a range of groups within the Theravadan and Mahayanan Schools.

Volunteer teachers have been drawn from the local Buddhist communities. According to accreditation requirements, they have a sound knowledge of Buddhism and a recommendation from a senior Buddhist teacher, have completed the 15 hour Department of Education and Early Childhood accredited teacher training course for volunteer teachers, and have passed the Victoria Government Work With Children Check.
